Schedule:

• 30 hours per week 7:30 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. Monday - Friday
• This position does follow the school calendar and would have all school closure days (not necessarily professional development days) off.

Responsibilities:

• Assist the classroom teacher in creating a safe, nurturing, and engaging learning environment for students.
• Support students academically, socially, emotionally, and behaviorally throughout the school day.
• Model and reinforce positive interactions, respectful communication, and appropriate behavior.
• Supervise students in the classroom, on the playground, during transitions, and at other school activities as assigned.
• Work collaboratively with the classroom teacher and other staff members to meet the needs of all students.
• Follow teacher direction and implement classroom procedures, instructional activities, and behavior support strategies consistently.
• Maintain confidentiality regarding students, families, and school-related matters.
• Communicate professionally with staff, students, and families while directing parent inquiries to the classroom teacher or administration as appropriate.
• Demonstrate flexibility, a growth mindset, and a willingness to receive coaching and feedback.
• Remain attentive and actively engaged with students throughout the workday, minimizing personal distractions.
• Assist with classroom organization, preparation of materials, and maintaining a clean and orderly learning environment.
• Participate in training, meetings, and professional development opportunities as requested.
• Support the mission, values, and Christian environment of St.

Michael Lutheran School.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Experience working with young children in a school, childcare, church, or volunteer setting preferred.
• Demonstrated love for children and a commitment to supporting their academic, social, emotional, and spiritual growth.
• Strong interpersonal, communication, and teamwork skills.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment.
• Ability to meet the physical demands of working with young children, including standing, walking, bending, kneeling, and assisting students as needed.
• Ability to successfully complete all required employment screenings, including a Florida Level 2 background screening.
