Exempt Description The primary function of this position is to lead the day-to-day operation, curriculum development, and instruction of the Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) Program. Examples of Duties Maintain assigned teaching load in accordance with the College Manual of Policy Teach 15 hours of didactic coursework or 18-24 hours of combined credit/contact per semester per the college Manual of Policy. Teach in assigned didactic, clinical, lab and/or simulated labs. Teach and assist with advanced EMS courses, including Paramedic didactic lectures, laboratory instruction, clinical education, and skills training Prepare course syllabi, examinations, and student evaluations for EMT courses (on-campus and off-campus) Schedule and hold office hours in accordance with college policy (currently 10 hours per week) Advise students and assist with registration Maintain accurate academic records for students in the program Coordinate with agency representatives to schedule students, e.g., for clinical experiences, and evaluate student performance Assist in recruiting, interviewing, and selecting students for EMS programs Maintain regular communication with the EMT Medical Director Assist with EMS advisory committee meetings and provide reports Collaborate with the EMS Coordinator to review and develop program goals Assist with accreditation/reaccreditation processes, including self-study and reporting to the Florida Department of Health, EMS Bureau Prepare correspondence and complete required reports Assist in maintaining inventory of equipment, supplies, and instructional materials Assist in preparation of program budgets Assist in preparing purchase orders for equipment and supplies Attend Public Safety Division meetings Perform other duties as assigned by the Emergency Medical Services Coordinator Qualifications Must possess a minimum of a Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution. Must have successfully completed EMS Instructor Levels A and B in accordance with the National Guidelines for Educating EMS Instructors or qualify for an approved exemption under Florida Administrative Code. maintain current Florida Paramedic certification in good standing, and have at least four years of ALS prehospital field experience. Candidates must also have a minimum of two years of teaching experience as a Level B EMS Instructor. Current/active Florida Paramedic certification in good standing with the Florida Department of Health or immediate eligibility for certification upon hire Current/active American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) Provider certification.
