About Us Family of Christ Christian School is a ministry of Family of Christ Lutheran Church (LCMS) in Tampa, Florida, serving students from 18 months through Grade 8. We are a warm, Christ-centered school community where faith shapes everything we do—from morning devotions to afternoon dismissal. Our staff are not just employees; they are servant-ministers who invest in children's lives with purpose and joy. The Role We're looking for a patient, encouraging, and faith-filled Elementary Assistant Teacher to support our two First Grade classrooms. This is a full-time role where you'll work alongside our First Grade Lead Teachers every day, moving between both classrooms to support small-group instruction, help students navigate transitions, and be a steady, caring presence wherever you're needed most. What You'll Do Partner with the Lead Teacher to support daily lessons, prepare materials, and set up learning activities Provide small-group and one-on-one support in reading, math, and other subject areas Greet students and families warmly by name each morning and during transitions Help students stay on task, transition between activities, and engage productively with their peers Actively supervise students during recess, lunch, hallways, and other duty times—staying attentive and mobile Maintain an accurate count and awareness of student whereabouts at all times Support classroom organization, materials management, setup, and cleanup Be ready to lead the classroom in the Lead Teacher's absence Model Christian love, patience, and character in every interaction with students and families Maintain confidentiality regarding student and family matters at all times What We're Looking For Active Christian faith in agreement with the Family of Christ Statement of Faith Must be at least 19 years of age High school diploma required; coursework in education, child development, or a related field preferred Genuine passion for working with elementary-age children in a Christ-centered environment Patient, encouraging disposition and the ability to engage positively with students, families, and colleagues Ability to follow direction from Lead Teachers and function as a cooperative classroom team member Basic proficiency with classroom technology and instructional materials Why Join Our Team? Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds and maintain continuous use of sight, hearing, and clear speech throughout the school day.
