Center Director Position Summary:
Echols Learning Academy is seeking a nurturing, dependable, and professional Childcare Teacher who is committed to providing a safe, engaging, and developmentally appropriate learning environment for children. The Teacher is responsible for implementing daily lesson plans, supervising children, maintaining classroom management, and ensuring compliance with all Georgia Department of Early Care and Learning (DECAL) regulations and center policies. The ideal candidate is passionate about early childhood education, possesses strong communication skills, and works collaboratively with families and fellow staff members to support children's growth and development. Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesClassroom Management Maintain a safe, clean, and organized classroom environment. Supervise children at all times to ensure their safety and well-being. Follow all classroom schedules, routines, and center policies. Maintain appropriate teacher-to-child ratios at all times. Create a positive and nurturing atmosphere that promotes learning and development. Curriculum and Instruction Implement age-appropriate lesson plans and activities aligned with Georgia Early Learning and Development Standards (GELDS). Conduct daily educational activities that support cognitive, social, emotional, physical, and language development. Encourage creativity, exploration, and problem-solving through play-based learning. Observe and document children's developmental progress. Child Supervision and Care Assist children with meals, snacks, toileting, handwashing, and other daily routines. Model positive behavior and guide children using appropriate classroom management techniques. Monitor children for signs of illness, injury, or developmental concerns and report concerns to the Director immediately. Ensure all children are properly signed in and signed out according to center procedures. Parent Communication Maintain professional and respectful communication with parents and guardians. Provide updates regarding children's daily activities, achievements, and concerns. Utilize Procare and other approved communication methods as directed by management. Maintain confidentiality regarding children, families, and center operations. Health and Safety Compliance Follow all state licensing regulations, health and safety standards, and center policies. Ensure proper sanitation of classrooms, toys, and equipment. Report accidents, incidents, and injuries immediately according to center procedures. Participate in emergency drills and safety procedures. Teamwork and Professionalism Attend required staff meetings, trainings, and professional development sessions. Work cooperatively with other teachers and support staff. Maintain a professional appearance and positive attitude. Demonstrate reliability, punctuality, and accountability. Support center initiatives and maintain a high standard of customer service for families. QualificationsRequired Must be at least 18 years of age. High School Diploma or GED. Ability to pass all required background checks. Ability to meet Georgia DECAL employment requirements. Ability to lift up to 40 pounds and actively engage with children throughout the day. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Preferred Child Development Associate (CDA) Credential. Technical Certificate or Associate Degree in Early Childhood Education. Previous childcare or preschool teaching experience. CPR and First Aid Certification. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Understanding of child development principles. Ability to manage a classroom effectively. Strong organizational and time-management skills. Ability to maintain confidentiality. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Ability to build positive relationships with children, families, and coworkers. Work Environment Indoor and outdoor childcare environment. Frequent standing, walking, bending, lifting, and active participation with children. Exposure to routine childhood illnesses and outdoor weather conditions during playground activities. Schedule Full-Time and Part-Time positions available. Monday through Friday. Schedule determined by operational needs and enrollment levels.
