Job Description
Job Summary Join our dedicated early childhood education team as a Head Start Teacher Assistant, where you will play a vital role in supporting young children's growth and development in a nurturing, engaging environment. Your enthusiasm and commitment will help create a positive classroom atmosphere that fosters learning, social skills, and independence. Duties Assist lead teachers in implementing developmentally appropriate lesson plans aligned with curriculum standards such as Montessori or preschool frameworks. Support classroom management by encouraging positive behavior and helping children develop social skills through effective behavior management techniques. Engage children in literacy education, math activities, and early childhood education exercises that promote cognitive development. Provide hands-on toddler care and support children with special needs, including those with autism or disabilities, ensuring an inclusive learning environment. Help maintain a safe, clean, and organized classroom environment conducive to active learning and exploration. Collaborate with teachers to develop individualized instruction plans for children requiring additional support. Communicate regularly with families about their child's progress and classroom activities to foster strong home-school connections. Skills Strong understanding of childhood development principles and early childhood education best practices. Experience with classroom experience, including working with young children in daycare or preschool settings. Knowledge of special education strategies, behavior management techniques, and working with individuals with disabilities or autism. Ability to assist in lesson planning and curriculum development tailored to diverse learning needs. Excellent communication skills to effectively collaborate with teachers, parents, and children. Familiarity with Montessori methods or other preschool educational philosophies is a plus. Demonstrated ability to manage classroom behavior positively while fostering an inclusive environment for all learners.
