Job Description
All Teaching Staff is responsible for daily classroom tasks including but not limited to direct care of children, conducting education activities according to the Creative Curriculum and Smarties Philosophy, assisting with positive redirection, ensuring safety and well-being of all students, and establishing positive relationships with children and parents. To ensure a stimulating classroom environment The Teacher must strive to understand children's cognitive, social, emotional, and physical development. The candidate must be open to receiving constructive feedback and guidance from the supervisors. Key Responsibilities Understand and follow the daily lesson plans and objectives Assist with planning for classroom activities Conduct daily activities to ensure the social and emotional, physical, and cognitive developmental growth of each child Maintain a full understanding of classroom operations and its schedule, safety requirements, understanding of Creative Curriculum and Smarties Philosophy Establishes and maintains communication with parents in person and via Brightwheel In the absence of the Lead Teacher, take on day-to-day responsibilities, including managing Brightwheel communication with parents and administration, overseeing classroom activities, and providing guidance to floating and substitute teachers. Share the assessments of the children with the Lead Teacher Contributes to conference planning Understand and follow all Smarties Employee Handbook policies Understand and follow Bright from the Start, and Fire Safety Policies Maintain an organized and safe classroom environment (including the playground) at all times Maintains professional conduct and satisfactory job performance evaluation Strive for professional growth and straightening of skills Position Requirements Clear Bright from the Start Comprehensive Background Check CDA or equivalent (For Lead Positions) Education and Training Required 10 hour health and Safety Training Infant/ Child CPR and First Aid (every year) Fire Safety Training (every year) 15 hours of continuing education classes (every year) Clear knowledge of the State Regulations for childcare settings (Bright from the Start) Clear knowledge of Creative Curriculum and Smarties Philosophy Skills Required Bilingual- Spanish and English Basic computer skills (Brightwheel application) Effective communication and interpersonal skills Collaborative and teamwork skills Being able to meet the physical needs of the job for example: lifting to 35 Full time position benefits: paid vacation, paid holidays, paid sick days, paid training
