Job Description

Overview St. Joseph's Catholic School
AFTER-SCHOOL PROGRAM
is seeking assistants for the 2026/2027(August/2026-May/2027) school year. This is a part-time position, Monday through Friday, 3-6pm, with some flexibility, and is open to retirees, part-timers, college students, etc. Join our vibrant after-school program team as an After-School Program Assistant! In this dynamic role, you will play a vital part in creating a safe, engaging, and nurturing environment for children and youth. Your energy and enthusiasm will help foster positive development, encourage learning, and promote fun-filled activities that inspire young minds. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful impact while gaining valuable experience in education, childcare, and youth engagement. Responsibilities Supervise children during after-school hours, ensuring their safety and well-being at all times Facilitate engaging activities such as arts and crafts, sports, and group games to promote childhood development Assist with homework help Maintain a clean, organized environment by setting up activity spaces and ensuring safety protocols are followed Requirements Be physically able to engage in light activities with children Possess the ability to multi-task Be capable of maintaining close observation at all times Candidate must be willing to commit for the full school year Certification in first aid is desirable to ensure safety during activities Strong interpersonal skills to connect effectively with children and team members An assistant should understand the level of responsibility that comes with managing children entrusted to their care and must exhibit mature conduct at all times. An assistant should be adept at diffusing minor disagreements. All personnel working with children must complete a three-hour safe environment course (at no charge) offered by Virtus and pass a background check.

$14.00 per hour
