- Wexford, Ireland Department Information Learning in Ireland-Wexford Job Summary The Student Assistant will support Learning in Ireland-Wexford as a Program Assistant on the Wexford Campus in Wexford Ireland beginning Summer 2026.
This Student Assistant position is open to currently enrolled students in good standing, and supports the Wexford Summer Abroad Program Director with day-to-day operations. The position is primarily logistical and student-facing: helping the group stay organized, accounted for, and prepared during travel, field trips, scheduled activities, and unexpected student needs. Because the program takes place abroad, the assistant must be reachable throughout the program and available to help when needed, including evenings, overnight situations, travel days, illness, injury, or other urgent student concerns. Flight and lodging costs are covered as part of the role. Student employees cannot work more than 1300 hours in a 12-consecutive month period. Responsibilities
Assists the Program Director with daily program logistics and organization
Helps communicate schedules, meeting times, location changes, and program expectations
Assists with headcounts and help confirm that students are present, accounted for, and on time
Supports faculty and program leadership during travel to and from Ireland, including airport movement, gates, boarding, and group transitions
Assists with field trips and excursions, including confirming that students are on buses or other arranged transportation
Helps students move efficiently between hotels, academic sites, cultural sites, transportation points, and scheduled activities
Remains available when a student is ill, injured, delayed, or unable to participate in a scheduled activity
When directed by the Program Director, stay with or accompany a student to a medical appointment, urgent care facility, or emergency room
Reports student concerns, logistical issues, incidents, or emergencies to the Program Director promptly
Provides practical student support while maintaining appropriate professional boundaries. Shift Specifics Up to 40 hours per week
Flexible with schedule of availability This is a 4-week role on-site at the University's learning center in Wexford, Ireland to accompany a study abroad program. While the primary working hours will coincide with scheduled program activities, the student assistant must be willing and able to remain on-call at all times. Required Qualifications Educational Requirements Must be enrolled in six or more undergraduate credit hours or three or more graduate credit hours at Georgia Southern University.
Preferred Qualifications Preferred Education Graduate Student
Bachelor's Degree Preferred Experience Prior experience working with undergraduate students
Prior travel, international travel, or study abroad experience
Experience in student affairs, residence life, education, counseling-related support work, peer mentoring, or program coordination
Comfort assisting with group travel, field trips, and student logistics
Strong organizational and communication skills
Reliability, maturity, discretion, and sound judgment
Ability to remain calm in stressful or unexpected situations
Proposed Salary $25.00 per hour This is a non-exempt position paid on a biweekly basis. Required Documents to Attach
