Job Description
Essential Functions and Basic Duties:
Relative to the learning environment and program content Assist in the delivery, maintenance, and improvement of the Punana Leo curriculum implementation under the Lead Teacher's direction and guidance in alignment with the streamlined curriculum and programming. Must have a basic understanding of the curriculum and the perspective in which it is grounded. Must hone personal skills and abilities to participate in delivering a quality Punana Leo program. Assist with learner assessments, maintaining clear and consistent documentation and communication with families as required. Under the direction of the Lead Teacher, must develop, implement, monitor assess and improve lessons. Must understand and be able to lead all mookiina routines that are fundemental to the curriculum. Relative to sites and facilities Assist as needed with various site and facilities duties, including but not limited to the following: Day to day safety measures are conducted. Drills with staff and children. Daily site inspections. Completion of accident and incident reports. Must administer First Aid emergency care as necessary to maintain a safe environment and the well- being of the staff and children. Minimum Qualifications Successful completion of Two Years Hawaiian language and a commitment to continue Hawaiian Language learning. Six months of experience working with children. Six credits of Early Childhood Education. Preferred Qualifications Working knowledge of the Kumu Honua Mauli Ola. Physical Requirements Must be able to engage in energetic learning activities with child-learners for up to 8 hours per day. Working Conditions Work is typically conducted Monday through Friday at normal business hours but evening and weekend hours are often required to meet goals and objectives. Must attend and participate in the annual Aha Nuukia staff development, Halawai Nuukia, Hui Kipaepae and other meetings as required.Similar jobs in Hilo, HI
