Duties Help Major Duties:

Provides instruction on boing safety, sailing and windsurfing.

Prepares lesson plans associed with sailing instruction for beginners, intermedie and advanced students. Teaches prive one on one and group lessons with no more than 12 students per class. Teaches basic sailing skills, rules of the road; care and maintenance of sails, lines, safety equipment; defines storm signals, navigional aids and buoys. Performs other reled duties as assigned.

Supervisory Controls:

Works under the general supervision of the Outdoor Recreion Manager. Works independently with minimal supervision under the confines of departmental and organizional guidelines, plans and policies. Refers questionable or unusual problems to Management.

Guidelines:

Incumbent complies with prescribed procedures and follows oral and written instructions. Incumbent is able to keep up with the normal flow of work. All duties are accomplished in a thorough, accure, and timely manner.

Complexity:

Incumbent is expected to learn, apply and comply with procedures applicable to the day-to-day operions of the Outdoor Recreion Program. Incumbent is to put forth extra effort during busy periods. Incumbent must know the rules of the Harbor and provide accure informion to customers/students.

Scope and Effect:

Provide accure sailing/windsurfing instructions through individual and group lessons. Teaching individuals to respect and follow safety procedures all times while in the wer.

Incumbent will have one on one contact with customers/students in a safe and professional outdoor setting.

Purpose of Contacts:

Incumbent will provide guidance and proper procedures to customers/students teaching sailing and windsurfing.

Physical Demands:

Long periods of sitting and standing may be required. Pushing/pulling and manual labor required.

Work Environment:

Incumbent works mainly outdoors with exposure to all environmental and weher conditions to include but not limited to wind, rain, storms, high waves, and unusual ocean conditions.
