Full-Time (School-Year Position) Position Summary The Library Supervisor Paraeducator supports the daily operation of the school library/media center by supervising students, assisting with library services, maintaining library resources, and promoting a welcoming learning environment. This position works collaboratively with teachers, students, and staff to support literacy, research, technology use, and educational programming while ensuring the library remains organized, safe, and accessible. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Supervise students using the library before, during, and after school hours as assigned. Assist students and staff in locating books, digital resources, and instructional materials. Manage circulation activities, including checking materials in and out, processing returns, and maintaining patron records. Shelve, organize, and inventory library materials according to established procedures. Monitor student behavior and enforce school and library expectations. Assist with the preparation and display of library materials, bulletin boards, and literacy promotions. Support classroom research projects by helping students access appropriate resources. Operate library management software and basic office technology. Assist with ordering, processing, and cataloging new materials. Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming library environment. Support reading initiatives, author visits, and other library events. Collaborate with teachers and staff to support student learning and engagement. Prepare reports, correspondence, and records as required. Perform other duties as assigned by the principal or library media specialist. Qualifications Required High school diploma or equivalent. Completion of paraeducator certification requirements as required by state or district regulations. Experience working with children or adolescents in an educational setting. Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills. Basic computer proficiency, including email, Google Documents and library management systems. Ability to supervise students effectively and maintain a positive learning environment. Physical Requirements Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, and lift library materials weighing up to 25 pounds. Ability to move book carts and arrange materials on shelves. Ability to work in a school environment with moderate noise levels. Work Schedule School-year position following the district academic calendar. Typical schedule: Monday-Friday during school operating hours. Occasional evening or special event hours may be required.
