2026-27 Substitute Teacher/Maintenance Associate Lewis Central Community School District - 4.0 Council Bluffs, IA Job Details Full-time 3 hours ago Qualifications Substitute Teaching Certification High school diploma or GED Full Job Description Lewis Central Community School District is looking for a Substitute Teacher/Maintenance Associate for the 2026-2027 school year. This is a full-time, full-year position. This position will serve as a substitute teacher at Titan Hill four days per week during the school year, with one day per week (typically Wednesdays) working as a Maintenance Associate supporting the Facilities Department. During non-school days, including school breaks and summer, this position will work primarily with the Facilities Department.

June 9, 2026 Summary Responsible for supporting the District's instructional and facility needs. During the school year, this position serves as a Substitute Teacher no more than 4 days per week and a Maintenance Associate no less than 1 day per week for a total of 40 hours per week. During non-student days and summer break, this position focuses entirely on facility maintenance duties. Flexibility is required to meet district needs. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Maintenance Support Duties Reports to work as scheduled on a regular and reliable basis. Under the direction of maintenance technicians, assists with general maintenance tasks, including light carpentry, painting, basic repairs, hauling, and minor equipment maintenance. Assists with preventive maintenance of building systems and equipment. Supports grounds-related duties such as upkeep of outdoor areas, including mowing, trimming trees and grass, trash removal, and pressure washing, etc. Supports the operation of hand and power tools safely and effectively as directed by technicians. Operates district vehicles and motorized equipment safely (e.g., zero-turn mowers, ATVs/UTVs, golf carts, trucks) as needed. Assists with inventory tracking and recommends materials or supplies for maintenance tasks. Responds to weather-related needs, including snow and ice removal, using plows, snow blowers, shovels, and other equipment as directed. Fills daily custodial vacancies as needed. Supports other maintenance staff or trades and may respond to district-wide emergencies. May be required on-call for after-hours emergencies. Other duties as assigned. Substitute Teacher Duties Reports to work as scheduled on a regular and reliable basis. Provides classroom coverage as a substitute teacher in various grade levels as assigned. Follows lesson plans provided by classroom teachers or District administration. Maintains a safe, positive, and productive learning environment. Communicates effectively with students, staff, and administration. Maintains accurate records and reports as required. Other duties as assigned.
