Job Description

Florence M. Lakin Child Development Center Florence M Lakin provides safe, affordable, Montessori-inspired, trauma-informed childcare designed to meet the immediate needs of families in our community and at MICAH House. We are committed to creating a nurturing and supportive environment where children can learn, grow, and thrive. The Assistant Infant Teacher works collaboratively with administration, curriculum leaders, and fellow staff to create and implement engaging activities that foster the social-emotional, intellectual, and physical development of the children in their care. This role is responsible for supporting the mission of providing high-quality childcare and educational experiences that nurture both children and the families enrolled in our program.
Schedule:
9:00am - 5:15pm Essential Duties and Responsibilities Responsible for the safety and well-being of students and staff. Carry out the daily responsibilities of the classroom relating to the children's care, like feeding, toileting, dressing, medical needs, and personal hygiene. Ability to lift and carry up to 40 lbs. and fulfill all physical requirements of the role including sitting, standing, walking, running, and climbing stairs. Maintains a neat, clean, well-organized, and attractive prepared environment consistent with Montessori pedagogy and trauma informed care practices. Ensure protection of confidentiality regarding each child and family. Prepare meals and snacks for children that adhere to CACFP Guidelines. Organize activities for children with support of the Lead teacher and maintain the schedule for the children throughout the day. Keep records of each child's progress, interests and any problems that may occur, like Injuries, illnesses, or incidents. Caring and compassionate attitude when interacting with and caring for children. Strong verbal communication and listening skills to converse with children, fellow professional caregivers and parents or guardians. Excellent patience and stamina for keeping up with the demands of children of all ages. Advanced multitasking and organizational skills to handle multiple children at a time. Qualifications Acquire and/or maintain all required Preservice Orientation, Infant/ Child CPR/First Aid Certification, and Professional Development training hours as required by Program and Licensing Regulations. Over 18 Years of Age ( Preferred ), at least 16 years of age ( required ). Successfully pass background checks that meet compliance requirements. Highschool Diploma or GED (if applicable). Experience or knowledge of the Montessori Philosophy and Trauma Informed Practices in Early Childhood education ( Preferred).
Pay:
$17.00 per hour
