I. TITLE
Elementary Art Paraprofessional
II. QUALIFICATIONS
Demonstrated knowledge relative to teaching the basics of art. Ability to organize instructional activities, promotional activities, and general program management activities. Ability to work with staff, students, and the public. Previous experience preferred, but not mandatory. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.

IV. JOB GOALS
To support the delivery of School District 91's written, taught, tested and reported curriculum and contribute to maximizing student achievement. To develop in each student an enjoyment of art and skills working in a variety of mediums.
V. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Teaches the basics of art. Correlates art with other aspects of the curriculum, such as language arts, social studies, science, and art. Works with the Building Administrator to provide appropriate art instruction. Encourages and motivates the enjoyment of various forms of art by providing varied opportunities. Works with other art staff in planning and preparing activities and lessons for classes. Assists classroom teachers in incorporating art into their curriculum. Attends in-service classes, building meetings, and district meetings as requested. Maintains high standards of ethical behavior and confidentiality. Has regular and predictable attendance.
VI. OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Performs all other duties as assigned.
VII. TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
This is a part-time position scheduled for up to 16 hours per week. Wages will be in accordance with the Classified Salary Schedule as a Grade 6 - $17.63 or $18.53 (with a bachelors degree or 5 years relevant experience). This is an "at will" position in that the employer or employee may terminate employment at any time or for any reason consistent with applicable state or federal law. The "employment at will" policy cannot be changed verbally or in writing, unless the change is specifically authorized in writing and expressly approved by the Board of Trustees of District 91.
VIII. EVALUATION
Performance of this position will be evaluated annually by the Building Administrator in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on the evaluation of classified personnel. This position has been given an overall physical classification of light duty.
