This part-time position (5.5 hours per day) is designed for individuals who are committed to supporting students in their literacy development and fostering a love for reading and writing. The ideal candidate will work closely with teachers to implement instructional strategies, assist students in their learning, and contribute to a positive and engaging educational environment. Responsibilities
  • Assist classroom teachers in the implementation of literacy instruction and intervention strategies for students.
  • Provide one-on-one and small group support to students in reading and writing activities.
  • Monitor and assess student progress, providing feedback to teachers and parents as necessary.
  • Prepare instructional materials and resources to enhance literacy lessons and activities.
  • Collaborate with teachers to develop individualized literacy plans for students with diverse learning needs.
  • Support classroom management by fostering a positive and respectful learning environment.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge in literacy education.
  • Communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff regarding student progress and needs.
  • Assist with the organization and facilitation of literacy-related events and programs within the school.
  • Maintain accurate records of student performance and progress in literacy. Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent. Requires two years of college, an AA degree, or successful completion of the ParaPro Assessment (Praxis Exam).
  • Previous experience working with children or in an educational setting is highly desirable.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build rapport with students, parents, and staff.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for helping students succeed.
  • Basic knowledge of educational practices and child development principles.
  • Must pass background checks and meet any other requirements as mandated by the school district.
