Job Description

Catholic School Search Alphonsus Academy & Center for the Arts is seeking a caring, collaborative, and enthusiastic Second Grade Teaching Assistant to support students academically, socially, emotionally, and spiritually within our vibrant Catholic school community. The ideal candidate is passionate about elementary education, enjoys working closely with young children, and is committed to fostering a nurturing and engaging classroom environment rooted in faith, academic excellence, creativity, and community. At Alphonsus Academy, we believe in educating the whole child through rigorous academics, arts-integrated learning, and strong relationships with students and families. Essential Responsibilities
  • Support the lead teacher in implementing daily classroom instruction and routines
  • Work with individual students and small groups to reinforce academic skills in reading, writing, and math
  • Assist in creating a positive, organized, and developmentally appropriate classroom environment
  • Help supervise students during transitions, lunch, recess, arrival, dismissal, and school activities
  • Support classroom management using positive behavior strategies
  • Assist with lesson preparation, classroom materials, grading, and organization
  • Foster student creativity and engagement through arts-integrated activities and hands-on learning experiences
  • Encourage kindness, inclusion, respect, and collaboration among students
  • Support students' social-emotional growth and faith formation within a Catholic school setting
  • Collaborate effectively with teachers, specialists, support staff, and families
  • Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all interactions
  • Participate in school events, meetings, and professional responsibilities as assigned Qualifications
  • Associate's degree or higher preferred
  • Experience working with elementary-aged children preferred
  • Strong communication, organization, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team
  • Warm, patient, flexible, and positive demeanor
  • Commitment to supporting the mission and values of a Catholic school

This position has an hourly range of $16.00 - $26.00. An employee's pay within the salary range will be based on many factors including but not limited to: relevant education, qualifications, experience, skills, geographic location, and organizational needs.
