Donoghue, which opened in 2005, is a college preparatory campus committed to professional development, inquiry, and high expectations for all staff and students. Position Summary:
The Instructional Aide will be responsible for assisting the teacher in an elementary classroom through clerical support, planning assistance, student engagement and providing direct student supervision during non-instructional times.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide instructional support to individual students or small groups under the supervision of the classroom teacher. Review classroom material and assist with special projects under the supervision of the classroom teacher. Assist students in understanding and completing classroom assignments Monitor students in the early bird program, classrooms, hallways, lunchrooms, during recess and on playgrounds. Assist classroom teacher with preparing materials, setting up displays, and maintaining an organized, safe learning environment. Consult with teachers regarding concerns of individual students.
Position Qualifications:
High School Diploma (GED equivalent) or Associate's Degree. Two years of college preferred. ISBE Paraprofessional licensure required. At least 3 years of experience working in and with urban communities At least 2 years of experience working with elementary school-age children in an urban public-school setting and/or youth organization Excellent written and oral communication skills Ability to communicate and build respectful relationships with parents and caregivers Collaborative, goal-oriented, mission-driven, accountable, responsible, self-managed, and self-motivated Commitment to the success and achievement of all students. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with administrators, staff, students, parents, and community partners. Ability to communicate clearly with multiple stakeholders. Salary Range $33,949 - $42,000 The included pay rate or range represents the University of Chicago Charter School's good faith estimate of the possible compensation offer for this role at the time of posting. The salary will be commensurate of years of experience and education.
