May 2026 SummaryUnder the direction and supervision of the SRJC Recreation Superintendent, the Day Program Assistant is responsible for assisting staff with implementing, participating in, and adapting activities for individuals with special needs ages 21 and over who are enrolled in the Adult Day Program. Essential DutiesReasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform these essential duties.Follow SRJC/Joliet Park District policies and proceduresResponsible for the supervision and safety of the individuals in the programAbility to adapt activities and appropriately interact with adults with disabilities. Ability to perform responsibilities as assigned by the SRJC Recreation SuperintendentAssist in providing appropriate communication to participants and parents on a daily basis. Ability to implement program plansActively participate in the day programMaintain program supplies and equipmentHoursThis is a part-time position. Days and hours of work are Tuesday through Friday, 9am-3pm.
Supervisory responsibilitiesParticipants in the SRJC Program Work environmentThis job will be performed indoors in a temperature controlled setting. At times, job tasks will include participating outdoors with varying weather conditions. Work environment may be loud at times.

The employee must occasionally lift or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. Education and ExperienceHigh School diploma or GED required1 year of experience working with people with disabilities is preferred.
