Job Description

Weekly outpatient therapy isn't always enough, and a trip to the ER isn't the only answer. Patients and their families rely on Compass Health Center when in crisis - every day, we help people overcome depression, anxiety, suicidality, obsessions/compulsions, trauma, chronic pain, and other obstacles in order for our patients to live freely. About This Role We are seeking a Teacher's Assistant to join our growing team! This role will be a blend of direct patient interaction and general administration work. If you are passionate about providing patients with exemplary care, while being sensitive to their individual psychiatric conditions, you would be a great addition to our team. Our location in Northbrook is our first and largest facility, and consists not only of our widest variety of programs, but also serves as a pilot site for many of our new treatment offerings This is a full time position throughout the school year with summers off.
What You'll Do:
Provide daily supervision and support for the learning environment across U18 programs Implement classroom behavior management strategies for patients as needed Set up and facilitate rooms for supervised study, ensuring room is equipped with appropriate supplies Distribute printed work sent by email or printed from online resources. Scan and e-mail completed work back to school contacts Manage, proctor and support the administration of assessments for each patient, including noting special instructions/testing accommodations Set up computers/tablets for patients and support patients to connect to Compass Guest Wifi, in addition to securing all Compass technology when not in use Monitor patient technology use to ensure patients are following technology guidelines Engage in frequent communication and collaboration with team members Check and respond to daily emails, voicemails and Teams messages Ensure safe patient transitions from room to room Communicate patient requests with doctors/nurses/therapists/teachers, as needed Support with walking patients to/from lobby when they arrive and need to leave, as needed. Administrative tasks such as data entry, attendance, and general paperwork Maintain patient privacy at all times Supervise patient lunch period, as needed Other responsibilities as assigned
Who You Are:
Experience working with children and adolescent Flexibility is critical Excellent time management and organizational skills, including the ability to juggle multiple demands simultaneously in a fast paced and changing environment Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal Bachelor's Degree - preferred We are committed to a fair and equitable work environment. This range includes multiple career path levels across the organization; where you fall in the range is dependent upon a number of factors including, but not limited to, your years of experience, type of experience, location, and education/certifications.
