Qualifications:
  • ISBE Paraprofessional Endorsement
  • At least 19 years of age and show proof of one of the following requirements: Associate's Degree or higher 60 semester hours of coursework High School Diploma GED and a score of 460 or higher on the ETS ParaPro Test High School Diploma GED and the following scores on the
ACT Work Keys Test:
Applied Mathematics/Applied Math

Position Summary Orion High School is seeking a motivated, student-centered Physical Education Paraprofessional to support students and staff in creating a safe, positive, and engaging learning environment. The successful candidate will assist physical education teachers with daily instruction, supervision, classroom management, equipment organization, and student support while promoting healthy lifestyles and positive student relationships. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Assist physical education teachers during classes, activities, and special events. Support students with varying academic, behavioral, physical, and social-emotional needs. Supervise students in gymnasiums, fitness areas, locker rooms, outdoor activity spaces, and during transitions. Help set up, organize, and maintain equipment for daily lessons and activities. Reinforce teacher directions and expectations to promote a safe learning environment. Assist with monitoring student participation, attendance, and behavior. Provide individual or small-group support as directed by certified staff. Ensure equipment and facilities are clean, organized, and safe for use. Support school-wide initiatives that encourage student wellness and physical activity. Maintain confidentiality regarding student information. Perform other duties as assigned by the principal or supervising teacher. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Ability to establish positive relationships with high school students. Strong organizational and time-management skills. Ability to follow directions and work independently when needed. Commitment to student safety and well-being. Ability to assist in maintaining a positive, respectful, and inclusive learning environment.
