POSITION OBJECTIVE
The job of Paraprofessional Restorative Practices Center (RPC) is done for the purpose/s of providing support to the instructional program with specific responsibility for supervising students assigned to the Restorative Practices Center (RPC); documenting student behavior; and providing information to teachers and/or other personnel. ______________________________________________________________________________
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Illinois Paraprofessional License or Substitute License as required by ISBE
Experience working successfully in a diverse, multicultural environment.
REQUIRED SKILLS
Proficient in operating standard office equipment and relevant software applications
Basic math skills, including calculations with fractions, percents, and ratios
Ability to understand written procedures, write routine documents, and communicate clearly
Knowledge of behavior and crisis management techniques
Familiar with instructional techniques and high school curriculum
Understanding of board policies and district, state, and federal regulations/laws
Ability to schedule activities and collate data
Skilled in using basic, job-related equipment
Flexible in working with others in a variety of situations
Ability to analyze data using specific, defined processes
Capable of operating equipment using defined methods
Ability to work with a diverse group of individuals and job-related data
Problem-solving skills to identify issues and create action plans
Independent interpretation of guidelines for problem-solving with data
Moderate problem-solving abilities with equipment
Strong commitment to maintaining confidentiality

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
Student Supervision & Safety Assists with washroom breaks for the purpose of providing for the safety of the student.
Monitors students during assigned periods for the purpose of providing a safe and positive learning environment.
Remains with students at all times in the RPC for the purpose of providing for the safety of students and de-escalating situations outside the classroom.
Performs other supervisory/security responsibilities as determined by the supervising administrator and the RPC schedule for the purpose of providing a safe and optimal learning environment.
Intervenes in potential conflicts utilizing appropriate physical and/or therapeutic approaches for the purpose of diffusing confrontations and minimizing disruptions.
Facilitates restorative practice interventions for the purpose of providing for the safety of the students. Instructional Support & Student Assistance Tutors students on assigned class work for the purpose of providing ongoing support in the completion of work assignments.
Collects class work from students for the purpose of returning the work to the teacher for evaluation.
Implements, under the supervision of the assigned teacher, behavioral plans designed by the IEP team for students with behavior disorders or other special conditions for the purpose of presenting and/or reinforcing learning concepts.
Models conversation, manners, listening, and everyday interactions for the purpose of demonstrating appropriate social behavior in a culturally sensitive manner. Collaboration & Communication Communicates with supervising instructional staff and professional support personnel for the purpose of assisting in academic progress and/or implementing IEP objectives.
Provides verbal and/or written feedback of observations for the purpose of informing teachers and/or parents of students' progress.
Reports problems directly to the supervising administrator for the purpose of maintaining personal safety of students, providing a positive learning environment, and adhering to Education Code, administrative and/or school policies. Clerical Support & Professional Responsibilities Performs general record keeping and clerical functions for the purpose of supporting the teacher and/or supervisory staff in meeting mandated requirements.
Performs other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit pertaining to District 219.

WORKING CONDITIONS
The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands: some lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling, some stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally the job requires 50% sitting, 25% walking, and 25% standing. This job is performed in a generally clean and healthy environment.
