Open Until Filled This position begins August 2026 Position Purpose McDowell Adult Education is seeking a qualified and motivated Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) Instructor to lead training for adult learners pursuing certification through the National Healthcareer Association (NHA). This program is delivered in partnership with Columbus Regional Hospital and prepares students for entry-level careers in the healthcare field. The CCMA Instructor is responsible for delivering high-quality instruction in clinical medical assisting skills, workforce readiness, and the

certification curriculum, ensuring students are prepared to successfully pass the
NHA CCMA
written certification exam and transition into employment in the healthcare field. Job Requirements Deliver instruction aligned with the
NHA CCMA
curriculum to prepare students for the certification exam. Teach clinical medical assisting skills including patient care procedures, infection control, vital signs, medical terminology, and clinical documentation. Integrate hands-on skill development with classroom instruction. Prepare lesson plans, instructional materials, and assessments aligned with course objectives. Incorporate workforce readiness skills including professionalism, communication, teamwork, and workplace expectations in healthcare settings. Prepare students for employment through resume support, interview preparation, and workplace behavior expectations. Reinforce employer expectations in collaboration with Columbus Regional Hospital. Monitor student progress and provide feedback, coaching, and academic support. Maintain an inclusive and supportive learning environment for adult learners from diverse backgrounds. Track attendance, student performance, and skill competency completion. Work collaboratively with McDowell Adult Education and Columbus Regional Hospital partners to ensure program quality and alignment with workforce needs. Assist with student orientations, skills assessments, and certification preparation. Participate in program meetings, professional development, and partner collaboration as needed. Maintain confidentiality of student, patient, and instructional information in compliance with program and partner policies. Maintain accurate records related to attendance, assessments, and student outcomes. Ensure instruction aligns with NHA certification requirements and program expectations. Support students through the
NHA CCMA
certification exam registration process. Minimum Qualifications Current Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) credential or comparable healthcare credential. Minimum 2 years of experience working in a clinical or healthcare setting. Knowledge of clinical procedures, patient care, and healthcare workplace practices. Ability to teach and support adult learners in a classroom or training environment. Preferred Qualifications Previous teaching or training experience in healthcare education or workforce training. Experience with NHA certification preparation or similar credential programs. Familiarity with adult education programs or workforce development initiatives. Strong instructional and presentation skills Ability to teach hands-on clinical skills Effective communication and interpersonal skills Organization and classroom management Commitment to student success and workforce outcomes Salary and Benefits Hourly, $41.00 per hour, No benefits available An additional $1 per hour will be paid from referendum funds
