Job Description

The Tolson Center for Community Excellence is seeking a Program Assistant to help plan, organize, and oversee all programming at the center. The vision of the Center is to be a centerpiece for an enlivened south-central Elkhart, a premier destination for neighbors near and far, and a pathway to equity and opportunity.
Program Assistant Objective:
Possess experience in social services, non-profit, youth development, education or similar field. The key to success in this role is relationship building and effective oversight of members of the center. This role will engage with people primarily 6 and up in programs focused on inclusive learning, recreating, and cultural exchange. At the heart of the role relies on voluntary engagement with people, so you'll need to build relationships based on trust in order to support and empower them.
What You'll Do:
Set-up and run daily programming across many different interest areas (arts, recreation, education, cultural exchange, etc.) Develop relationships with members based on respect and trust, ensuring they have a safe place to develop their identity and place in society Establish boundaries and challenge inappropriate behavior Mange front desk task such as answering phones, checking members in, and providing tours of guests Work in partnership with program partners who deliver programming for members Attend regular training and development opportunities to maintain up-to-date knowledge on human interaction, safeguarding, and leadership development. Program Coordinator Who You Are:
Be bilingual (proficient in Spanish and English) Exceptional leadership, time management, facilitation, and organizational skills Working knowledge of digital platforms (social media,computer skills) Outstanding working knowledge of change management principles and performance evaluation Enjoy working with youth, young adults, adults, and seniors Adaptability Self-motivation Close attention to detail and the ability to plan ahead Ability to work under pressure Administrative and clerical skills Interpersonal skills, including excellent written and verbal communication CACFP Responsibilities Complete civil rights training annually Monitor, Track, and Distribute food daily to school aged children
