Job Description

The following vacancy exists in Goshen Community Schools for the 2026-2027 school year: Model Elementary Once Literacy Paraprofessional
POSITION PURPOSE
Once Literacy para-professional will be responsible for delivering one-on-one, daily, scripted reading instruction to kindergarten students. The Once Literacy para-professional will participate in weekly live coaching to support instructional quality and instructor development.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
The specific responsibilities of this position include: Participate in onboarding training sessions before the start of tutoring, and engage in regular, weekly coaching sessions to continue to develop tutoring skills. Begin work punctually and follow tutoring schedules efficiently. Tutor each of the assigned students each school day. Maintain strong relationships with the students, classroom teachers, and school leaders by behaving, communicating, and dressing professionally. Complete any and all necessary preparation for instruction to ensure each student receives the instruction and support they need. Teach with fidelity to the scripted curriculum. Use creativity and resilience to engage every student and to invest every student in their progress. Maintain high standards of accuracy by correcting students' errors immediately and consistently. Track each students' progress through the curriculum using the designated system. Maintain high expectations for every student. Each student will be different, so instructors will differentiate their approaches accordingly, but they will maintain ambitious goals for all students. Solve problems creatively and display a passion for relentlessly iterating in the pursuit of excellence. Take personal responsibility for their students' success and for their own. Be eager for feedback and committed to their own continual improvement. Show kindness to every child, regardless of how any child may speak and act toward the instructor.
REQUIREMENTS
Must be at least 18 years of age Possess a high school diploma or equivalent One of the following is required: Have 48 hours of college credit or higher ParaPro Assessment with a score of 460 or higher Child Development Associate (CDA) credential Be willing to complete 10 modules in the online training platform Paraeducator within 2 months of employment at GCS (free training resources provided) Six months to a year of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience is preferred.
QUALIFICATIONS
Be able to produce standard English phonemes with precision and consistency both in isolation and when blending them together into words (through connected phonation). Have excellent verbal and written communication skills in formal English. Pay meticulous attention to detail when preparing for instruction, attending to students, documenting students' progress, and implementing feedback from coaches. Be fingerprinted, pass a background check, and satisfy any other local requirements for working in a school.
WORK CALENDAR
180 of days per year; 32.5 of hours per week; 7:30am-2:30pm including 30 minute lunch
SALARY:
$17.00-$17.30, rate is dependent upon education and/or experience. (Schedule #21-1)
