Principal, Assistant Principal Job Description:
POSITION PURPOSE
To provide such help to teachers and students using the library, either individually or in groups, as to enable them to take full advantage of available resources.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily. Helps students locate reference materials and other instructional materials. Operates the circulation desk, as assigned. Writes notices concerning overdue books. Replaces books and media materials in proper storage when they are returned. Operates equipment and apparatus as requested. Reads to small groups of students (in elementary school libraries only). Helps to maintain bulletin boards and other library displays. Processes orders, forms, schedules, catalog cards. Monitors attendance in the library and keeps attendance records. Assists in maintaining proper student discipline. Makes simple repairs on damaged books and materials, and processes more severely damaged items for repair at the appropriate places. Prepares material for reserve on teachers' request and maintains the reserve collections. Prepares current magazines for shelving. Assists in maintaining the general neatness and attractiveness of the library and its displays. Other duties as assigned by the building administrator.
QUALIFICATIONS
1. High School Diploma or equivalent. 2. Ability to plan and organize. 3. Skills in human relations. 4. Ability to communicate effectively before groups of students and parents. 5. Other qualifications as deemed desirable by the School Board.
