Job Description

Paraeducators play a vital role in our schools and the daily lives of our students. They support and work under the guidance of a licensed teacher to help ensure students can be successful. The Positive Behavior Support (PBS) paraeducator works with students whose behavior impacts their ability to learn to a significant degree. The goal of the PBS staff is to help the student learn behavioral control strategies that will allow them to participate with their peers as much as possible. The younger the student the more they tend to outwardly display behaviors such as yelling/screaming, putting head down and not responding or even physical aggression. Training is provided to all staff supporting students in these classrooms. This training focuses on de-escalation and emotional regulation. Perks of Working for Maize School schedule
