The ideal candidate will assist our SPED teacher in implementing individualized education plans (IEPs), facilitate clinic, classroom and community activities, and provide one-on-one support to students with disabilities. This role is essential in fostering a positive learning atmosphere that promotes academic growth, social development, and independence for students with special needs. Prior experience working with children, particularly in special education settings, is highly valued. Responsibilities Assist teacher in delivering instruction aligned with curriculum standards and individual student needs. Support students with disabilities through personalized assistance, including behavioral management and communication support. Implement strategies for behavior management and social skills development to create a safe and supportive classroom environment. Help develop and adapt lesson plans, activities, and instructional materials tailored to students' IEP goals. Monitor student progress and document observations related to academic performance, behavior, and social interactions. Provide support during transitions, and other daily activities to ensure student safety and engagement. Collaborate with teachers, therapists, parents, and other staff members to coordinate services and share insights on student progress. Assist with classroom management techniques that promote positive behavior and inclusive participation. Support early childhood education principles through age-appropriate activities for preschool or toddler-aged students when applicable. Qualifications Experience working with children in educational or childcare settings; prior experience in special education is preferred. Knowledge of childhood development, literacy education, math instruction, and curriculum development for diverse learners. Familiarity with IEP processes, behavior management strategies, and classroom management techniques. Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with team members, students, and families. Ability to adapt instructional strategies to meet individual student needs and promote an inclusive environment.
