PURPOSE:
The classroom Paraprofessional assists the instructor in creating a positive learning environment to facilitate the personal, social, and intellectual development of students. This position will also have office assistant responsibilities. To accomplish these tasks, the Paraprofessional has to work closely with the staff and administration of the district. The office assistant works closely with the building administrator and administrative assistant.
QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma, GED, or vocational training. Be at least 21 years of age. Valid driver's license (prefer Kansas) Ability to pass a criminal background check Health and Tuberculin Certificates on file (after employee offer is made)
ESSENTIAL
FUNCTIONS and
RESPONSIBILITIES
Display dependability and punctuality in attendance. Assure compliance with local, state and federal standards Assists in the instruction and supervision of students. Displays adaptability in new situations, Provide a safe and welcoming environment for children. Support the philosophy and mission of USD 343. Establish a positive learning environment and respond to the individual needs of each child, through effective communication. Displays good judgment in decision making situations. Responds positively to constructive suggestions for improvement. Utilizes time constructively and effectively. Adheres to all district health and safety policies, including all precautions of the Bloodborne Pathogens Exposure Control Plan. Serves as a role model for children in behavior, appearance and grooming The ability to handle and balance multiple demands at the same time. Interacts in a professional manner with all staff members of the school district and community. Works effectively with students, teachers, parents, community agencies, and other groups. Keep abreast of new information, innovative ideas and techniques. Maintains confidentiality of classroom, student and family information. Interacts in a professional manner with other staff members. Attend staffing and general staff meetings, as appropriate. Assist in the maintenance and inventory of materials. Ability to react to changes and frequent interruptions in a productive and positive manner, and handle other duties as assigned by the building Principal and/or Superintendent of Schools.

Explanation:
Very rarely requires physical exertion beyond walking or climbing stairs. Requires prolonged (over 50% of time) standing and walking. Some positions require driving from one building to another. Ability to perform first aid and CPR. •"Heavy" means not over 50 pounds.
