REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
High School Diploma or G.E.D. Background in marching band, percussion performance, various sub groups (e.g. mallets, auxiliary, snare, bass drum, etc.), or other area of speciality Ability to problem solve and communicate and exercise reasoning in demanding or stress environments Experience working with high school aged students
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Ability to design and provide creative input toward implementation of performances Experience providing percussion instruction or in area of speciality for shows and performances Ability to conduct minor repairs on musical equipment or other items relevant to area of speciality
SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITIES
The Band Technician will assist the Band Director and staff with planning, instructing and coordinating the practices and activities of the school marching band related to the area of speciality.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES & EVALUATION CRITERIA
Works closely with Band Director and other staff members to develop a program that will complement and enhance the musical program Participates in spring semester program planning as needed Assists in adjudication of new student try-outs Engages students to practice, play and perform introduced materials and programs Designates/coordinates the students into the various subgroups Attends all rehearsals, sectionals, and performances, actively participating in assisting students in sectionals and whole group rehearsals as directed Teaches basics, advanced performance, and drills relevant to the area of specialty Coordinates the speciality area rehearsal schedule with the full marching band Schedules and conducts extra rehearsals, in addition to the scheduled marching band rehearsals, as needed Manages and maintains inventory and equipment necessary for rehearsals and performances including maintenance, cleaning, repair, storage and acquisition recommendations Maintains a cooperative working relationship with administrators, band directors, band members and band staff Establishes and maintains open communication with parents, students, principals and teachers, and boosters and organizes their efforts in support of the unit Performs other related duties as assigned to assist Band Director in preparing students for competitions and public appearances, including parades and reviews
WARREN COUNTY PUBLIC SCHOOLS PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The work is performed by sitting, standing or walking. The work requires the use of hands for simple grasping and fine manipulations. The work at times may require bending, squatting, crawling, climbing, reaching, with the ability to lift, carry, push or pull light weights and exposure to outdoor weather conditions.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
Salary amount shall be determined upon approval of the Board of Education and paid as specified in board policy related to supplement/stipend amounts. Leave accrual will be as stated in Board Policy relevant to part-time positions.
EVALUATION
Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with the provision of Warren County Board of Education policy on evaluation of classified/certified personnel. Evaluations as relevant will be conducted by the Principal/designee.
