Aug 3, 2026 Job Description A Daycare Worker, provides a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment for young children, focusing on their physical, social, and emotional development. Core responsibilities include supervising playtimes, preparing meals, conducting educational activities, assisting with hygiene (such as diapering), and maintaining a clean facility. They also communicate frequently with parents. Key Responsibilities and Duties

Supervision & Safety:

Monitor children continuously to ensure a safe environment, inside and out, and follow all health, safety, and licensing regulations.

Child Care & Hygiene:

Assist with personal care, including diapering, toilet training, feeding, and dressing.

Activity Planning:

Implement age-appropriate, creative, and educational activities—such as reading, crafts, games, and music—to foster social and intellectual growth.

Routine Management:

Develop and maintain daily schedules, including structured playtime, nap times, and snacks/mealtimes.

Communication:

Provide regular updates to parents regarding their child's development, behavior, and daily routines.

Cleaning & Maintenance:

Maintain a tidy classroom by sterilizing toys, cleaning surfaces, and organizing play areas. Required Skills and Qualifications

Patience and Compassion:

Ability to work with children of varying ages and emotional needs.

Communication Skills:

Strong verbal communication for interacting with children and reporting to parents/guardians.

Physical Stamina:

Capable of lifting children, sitting on the floor, and engaging in active play.

Certifications:

Often requires CPR, First Aid certification, and sometimes a Child Development Associate (CDA) credential.

Background Check:

Successful completion of a criminal background check and child abuse clearances is generally required. Common Qualifications & Requirements

Education:

High school diploma or equivalent is usually the minimum; early childhood education (ECE) credits or degrees are highly valued.

Experience:

Prior experience working in a licensed childcare facility or similar role is preferred.
