Special Education Paraprofessional (1:1)- South Christian Elementary 26-27 school year Christian County Public Schools - 3.5 Herndon, KY Job Details Full-time $14.40 - $20.42 an hour 6 days ago Qualifications Working with individuals with disabilities Inclusivity Direct support Classroom experience Working with children with disabilities Full Job Description Job Summary We are seeking a dedicated and energetic Special Education Paraprofessional to join our elementary school team for the 2026-2027 school year. In this vital role, you will work closely with one student to provide direct 1:1 support in an educational setting. Assist with academic tasks, behavior management, social interaction, and daily routines. Support the student's communication through AAC devices, visual supports, and other adaptive strategies while promoting independence, safety, and participation in classroom activities. Collaborate with teachers and support staff to maintain a structured, positive, and inclusive learning environment. Responsibilities Provide individualized academic and behavioral support throughout the school day Assist with implementation of IEP goals and classroom accommodations Support communication using AAC devices, PECS, visual schedules, and other communication tools Monitor and document student progress, behaviors, and daily performance Assist with transitions, routines, and participation in classroom activities Use positive behavior support strategies and de-escalation techniques as needed Promote social interaction, independence, and self-help skills Ensure student safety in classroom, cafeteria, playground, and community settings Collaborate with teachers, speech therapists, occupational therapists, and other support staff Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in accordance with school policies and student needs Join us in creating an empowering educational experience for children with special needs!
