Jul 1, 2026 Job Description Join us for the 2026-2027 school year! Overdale Elementary is looking for dynamic, caring indiviudal to work in one of our kindergarten classrooms. The primary role of this position is to assist a certified teacher in providing instruction to individual or small groups and monitoring and reporting student progress. We are seeking applicants with the following qualifications: Strong communication skills and the ability to relate to students The belief that all kids can learn at high levels A positive attitude and a tremendous work ethic Dedicated to the profession

Position Details Hours:

6.25 hours per day (plus a 30-minute unpaid lunch)

Contract Length:

183 days per year 170 student instructional days 4 holidays 7 planning days 2 extended days

Contract Adjustments:

Contracted days will be prorated based on the start date

Education:

Must meet one of the following: 48 college semester hours An Associate's Degree OR High school diploma plus a passing score on the Paraeducator Assessment Exam.

Documentation:

Candidates must provide proof of educational requirements to HR upon recommendation for hire. Compensation & Experience Credit Salary for the 2026-2027 school year will be based on Board approved salary schedule. 2025-2026 Pay Scale Starting Pay (Step 0): $15.98/hour Experienced Pay (Step 10): $19.67/hour We value experience! Previous experience working with students, intervention systems, and small-group instruction is strongly desired. New hires may bring up to 10 years of comparable, full-time, verified experience. The hired applicant is responsible for submitting the BCPS Verification of Experience Form to prior employers for completion and return to HR.

Payroll Note:

While this is an hourly position, the salary is distributed via a year-long contract over 10 months. You will receive 4 paychecks at the end of June.

Salary Formula:
