Gardere Community Christian School About Gardere Community Christian School Gardere Community Christian School (GCCS) is a Christ-centered private elementary school serving students in PreK3 through 5th grade in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Our mission is to provide a firm Christian foundation in the educational and spiritual lives of children in the Gardere community, encouraging them to grow into the individuals God created them to be. At GCCS, we believe every child deserves access to an excellent Christian education regardless of financial circumstances. Through generous donor support, we provide up to 97% tuition assistance to our families. We are committed to our three pillars of Academic Excellence, Spiritual and Character Development, and Family and Community Engagement. Our teachers are deeply invested in the success of every child, working together in a collaborative and supportive environment where students are known, loved, and challenged to grow academically and spiritually. Position Overview Gardere Community Christian School is seeking a passionate and motivated 5th Grade Teacher Apprentice/Assistant Teacher to join our team. This unique role is designed for an educator who desires to grow into a future lead teaching position . The selected candidate will work alongside an experienced 5th grade teacher in a classroom of approximately 20 students . The goal of this position is to provide additional support to maintain a lower student-to-teacher ratio while allowing the apprentice teacher to develop their instructional skills through hands-on experience and mentorship. This is not a traditional assistant position . We are looking for someone who is eager to jump into instruction, co-teach, lead lessons, work with small groups, and actively participate in all aspects of classroom teaching. Our vision is that, in the following school year, this individual will transition into a lead teaching role as part of a departmentalized 5th grade team. Under this model, one teacher will teach English Language Arts and Social Studies, while the other teacher will teach Math and Science. This apprenticeship year is designed to provide the mentoring, experience, and support needed for a successful transition into that leadership role. This position is ideal for someone who: Is passionate about upper elementary education Wants to actively teach and lead instruction, not simply assist with classroom management Values mentorship and professional growth Is excited about the opportunity to become a future lead teacher Feels called to serve students and families through Christian education Responsibilities Support the lead teacher in creating a positive, Christ-centered learning environment. Assist with planning and implementing engaging lessons across core subject areas. Provide small-group and individualized instruction to students. Gradually assume responsibility for teaching whole-group lessons. Collaborate with the lead teacher to monitor student progress and provide interventions as needed. Build strong relationships with students, families, and colleagues. Support the mission, vision, and values of Gardere Community Christian School.
