Department Education-State Activities Opening Date 06/03/2026 Closing Date 6/8/2026 11:59 PM Central About this Job •This position is located in Baton Rouge, LA•Office of Teaching & Learning - Educator Talent and Workforce Development Job Focus Area The Louisiana Department of Education, Office of Teaching and Learning, is seeking anEducational Consultant 3to supporteducator certification and background credentialing functionswithin the Educator Talent & Workforce Development team. This position reports to the Director of Certification and serves as the lead specialist, ensuring certification applications are processed accurately, securely, and in compliance with state requirements. Candidates with the following skills, abilities, and experience are encouraged to apply: Experience working with Google Workspace (Drive, Docs, Sheets) to create, organize, and manage electronic files. Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook (scheduling and email management) and Zoom (meeting coordination and facilitation). Prior experience using case management systems or electronic databases for tracking, processing, and retrieving records. Demonstrated ability to review and analyze sensitive documents, such certification applications, criminal background checks, personal identification documents, etc., with accuracy and confidentiality. Strong data entry and document management skills, including scanning, indexing, and retrieving records in systems such as OnBase or similar platforms. Experience providing customer service and stakeholder support, including responding to inquiries, clarifying requirements, and resolving issues professionally. Ability to prioritize and manage workload in a high-volume environment with strict deadlines. Familiarity with educator certification processes or state regulatory compliance work (preferred but not required). Demonstrated skill in working independently and with discretion, while also functioning effectively as part of a team. Strong written and verbal communication skills, especially in preparing clear, accurate responses and documentation. Minimum Qualifications Seven years of experience in education, teaching, or administrative services; OR Six years of full-time work experience plus four years of experience in education, teaching, or administrative services; OR A bachelor's degree plus four years of experience in education, teaching, or administrative services; OR An advanced degree plus three years of experience in education, teaching, or administrative services. In this role, the Education Consultant 3 will be responsible for, but not limited to: Certification Processing Review and process certification applications daily Review and answer applicants, school districts, and teacher preparation programs through the certification question portal Teacher Certification Appeals Council Review appeal applications in accordance with established policy and law Compile documentation, including packets, polices, etc. and issue certificates at the conclusion of the meeting Schedule and coordinate TCAC meetings for the Council and appellants Administrative Duties Praxis upload Certification Monthly Calls Office Hours Position-Specific Details:
Appointment Type:
Probational, Promotional, or Job Appointment. The person hired for this position is expected to regularly report to the Baton Rouge office. Current permanent classified state employees may be required to accept a probationary appointment, if selected. Work Schedule:
Work days are Monday - Friday; work hours will be determined. Compensation:
The salary offered will be determined based on qualifications and experience. This position has a Special Entrance Rate (SER) of $28.96/hour. •Note regarding the advertised pay range: The Education Consultant series have a special entrance rate that is above the minimum hire rate for these positions.
