Job Description
This position is intended for the 2026-2027 school year.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Support the Head Teacher in the daily operation of the program and assume all Head Teacher responsibilities in their absence.
Supervise, mentor, and evaluate teachers and high school aides as assigned while promoting program expectations, positive behavior management, and a safe, inclusive environment.
Plan and lead engaging enrichment activities based on student interests and staff expertise, including arts and crafts, STEM, nature exploration, sports, cooperative games, and other recreational opportunities.
Assist with attendance, homework support, student supervision, and transitions throughout the day in both structured and unstructured settings.
Support group management and challenging behaviors by maintaining consistent discipline procedures and implementing appropriate behavioral expectations and consequences.
Build and maintain positive, professional relationships with students, families, and staff. Communicate with parents as needed to support student success and maintain open lines of communication while ensuring student confidentiality.
Assess program materials, supplies, resources, and snack inventory to help determine program needs and maintain organized, clean, and welcoming program spaces.
Assist with tuition collection and other administrative responsibilities as assigned.
Communicate student concerns, observations, and relevant program information to the Head Teacher and Director in a timely manner.
Assist in planning and facilitating special events, including the annual Variety Show, end-of-year celebrations, field trips, and family events.
Attend required staff meetings, trainings, and program events, and perform other duties as assigned by program leadership.
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, bend, kneel, crouch, climb, run, and use hands and arms while supervising students and program activities.
The employee may occasionally lift and move heavy objects.
The employee must be able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment with frequent distractions and interruptions, including phone calls, parent interactions, walkie-talkie communication, and loud settings.
The employee must be able to respond appropriately to emergencies, including student injuries and behavioral incidents.
The employee is required to work outdoors in various weather conditions deemed safe and appropriate for students.
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in education or a related field (e.g., psychology, sociology, or human services) with relevant experience working with children preferred, such as school support, childcare, camps, or youth programs.
Experience managing groups of school-age students in educational or recreational settings strongly preferred.
CPR/AED and First Aid certification, or willingness to obtain certification upon hire.
Valid driver's license required.
Schedule:
Monday through Friday
Approximate start time: 1:45 PM, End time: 6:00 PM
Rate:
The starting rate is $25.00 per hour based on experience
