Project Support Preschool is a program supporting preschool-aged children with skill building in areas such as preschool readiness, gross and fine motor, communication, social, behavior, and activities of daily living (including toileting) using the methodologies of applied behavior analysis. On-the-job training is provided.

Responsibilities include: Prepare instructional material and learning activities in the assigned classroom.

Provide direct instruction to groups of students or individuals in or out of the classroom.

Attends meetings and in-service presentations to acquire and/or convey information relative to job functions.

Implementation of individualized and small group instruction and discussionsAccommodating and modifying materials to match students needs as prescribed by the teacher.

Assist with the collection of student data.

Monitor students daily schedule and behavior plan for the purpose of maintaining a safe and positive learning environment.

Collects data on the students IEP goals for the purpose of maintaining accurate records and engaging in data-based decision-making.

Adapt classroom activities, assignments, and/or materials under the direction of the supervising teacher for the purpose of supporting and reinforcing classroom objectives and meeting IEP goals.

Consult with teachers on students progress and on specific strategies and methodologies to be used.

Communicates with supervising instructional staff, and a variety of health care professionals, and professional support personnel for the purpose of communicating progress or implementing IEP objectives.

Supervise unstructured time such as recess and/or lunch duty, unless directed otherwise.

Assist the teacher in clean-up.

Assists with any other tasks that students are not able to perform for themselvesDepending on the assignment, assist in escorting children to and from vehicles during drop-off or pick-up.

Assist students in using technology.

Assist substitutes in following lesson plans when the classroom teacher is absentAbility to lift 30lbs. independentlyWillingness to participate in toileting activities is required.

Other related duties that the Preschool Director, Special Education Director, and/or teacher may assign.

A paraprofessional may be assigned to a particular position, classroom, or student. The Billerica Public Schools expect that when the need arises, a paraprofessional is willing to help any student who may require assistance and/or as directed by the classroom teacher or related service providers.
