The Summer Program runs 10 hours per day for 9.5 weeks, and includes: A healthy breakfast, lunch & snack for participants Academic enrichment activities to curb summer learning loss Engaging activities such as art, music, science, team-building games, and sport Focus on social-emotional development The 1:1 Paraprofessional provides individualized support to a camper with specific developmental, behavioral, or medical needs within an Out-of-School Time (OST) summer camp program. This role ensures the camper's full participation in camp activities while promoting safety, inclusion, independence, and social engagement. •This role is dependent on grant funding.•The position is full-time at 40 hours per week during the summer, June 29 - August 28th, Monday - Friday. Looking for someone to start in mid-late June. Key Responsibilities:
Provide direct, one-on-one support to assigned rising kindergarten camper throughout the camp day Facilitate the camper's participation in all scheduled activities, including recreational, educational, and social programming Implement individualized strategies, accommodations, or behavior support plans as directed by supervisors or specialists Monitor and support the camper's emotional regulation, behavior, and social interactions Assist with transitions between activities and maintain a structured, supportive environment Support personal care needs as required (e.g., toileting, hygiene, feeding), in accordance with training and policies Communicate regularly with program staff regarding camper progress, challenges, and successes Maintain confidentiality of all camper information in accordance with applicable policies and regulations Ensure the safety and well-being of the camper at all times, including during field trips and outdoor activities Model positive behavior, inclusion, and respect for all campers and staff Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent required; college coursework in education, psychology, social work, or a related field preferred Experience working with children, particularly those with disabilities or diverse learning/behavioral needs Strong interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills Ability to remain patient, flexible, and responsive in a dynamic camp environment CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain prior to start date) Ability to pass required background checks Preferred Skills:
Experience with behavior management strategies (e.g., de-escalation techniques, positive behavior supports) Familiarity with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) or similar support plans Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team Enthusiasm for youth development and inclusive recreation Working Conditions:
