Long-Term Substitute Middle School Paraprofessional

Description:
Work with Middle School children in 5th and 6th grade, both in general education classrooms and the special education classroom to support students academically, socially, emotionally, and/or physically. This position supports students with specific learning disabilities in the area of reading and written language.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Knowledge of school classroom procedure, including preparation and maintenance of records.
  • Knowledge of special education procedures.
  • Demonstrated aptitude or competence for assigned responsibilities at the middle school (5th/6th) level.
  • Experience working with age-appropriate students in a school setting.
  • Successful candidate will have a positive attitude and must work well as a member of a team.
  • Ability to build relationships with students and colleagues and provide ongoing support and direction to students.
  • Ability to consistently implement strategies and programming as outlined by the special education teacher or related service provider.
  • Support students to generalize taught skills in classroom setting.
  • Work with small groups of students to reinforce previously taught skills.
  • Record data on student progress as modeled and reviewed by teachers and/or related service providers.
  • Other alternatives to the above qualifications as may be found appropriate and acceptable by the principal, special education coordinator, and Director of Student Services.
