Job Description

Chelmsford Public Schools - Announcement of Vacancy for the 2026- 2027 School Year The Chelmsford Public Schools is now accepting applications for the following anticipated vacancy. The District reserves the right to change this vacancy or not fill this vacancy based on further staffing changes, enrollment, or budget.
Position:
Elementary Paraprofessional Location:
Center Elementary School Paraprofessional supporting students receiving individualized special education instruction.
QUALIFICATIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Associate degree, some college or passing of the paraprofessional test
  • Knowledge and understanding of various disabilities
  • Knowledge of school classroom procedure, including preparation and maintenance of records.
  • Knowledge of special education procedures.
  • Demonstrated aptitude or competence for assigned responsibilities at the Elementary School level.
  • Experience working with age-appropriate students in a school setting.
  • Support students academically, emotionally, behaviorally, socially in the school setting
  • Assist students with toileting as needed
  • Ability to follow directions and implement accommodations and modifications as directed by teachers and related service providers
  • Ability to collect data consistently
  • Such alternatives to the above qualifications as may be found appropriate and acceptable by the principal, special education coordinator, and Director of Student Services.
A team player to work as a paraprofessional providing academic support for students. Candidate will work with elementary school children, both in general education classrooms and the special education classroom to support students academically, socially, emotionally, and/or physically. Able to assist with all aspects of students self-care. Successful candidate will have a positive attitude and must work well as a member of a team. Ability to build relationships with students and colleagues, and provide ongoing support and direction to students.
