Job Description

South Shore Montessori School Job Description Position:
Part time Assistant Teacher Reports to:
Director Scope of Work:
Classroom support for Primary Classrooms-ages 2.9-6.
Experience Requirements:
Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing Ability to work with children in an educational setting Experience in a Montessori preschool setting
Education/Certification Requirements:
Clear CORI and MA fingerprinting Training and experience working with young children required Willingness to work towards EEC Lead Teacher certification Willingness to take an introductory assistant's overview training
General Responsibilities:
Support the Lead teacher (LT) in the design and preparation of an inviting and challenging Montessori environment using a full complement of Montessori materials as well as supplemental materials. Work in partnership with the LT to prepare for the cognitive, social/emotional and physical achievement of children as well as for their safety and well-being.
Specific Responsibilities:
Work with LT to present clear/consistent expectations for class routines and classroom community goals Assist children with personal care independence when applicable (toileting, hand washing, etc.) Follow recommendations for students who receive support through a specialist (Early Intervention, Speech Therapy, Occupational Therapy, etc.) Support students with individual behavioral plans Supervise children regarding emergency practices such as fire drills Maintain the daily cleanliness and overall preparation of common areas in the classroom and throughout the school (student lockers, entrance ways, classroom furniture counters, etc.)
Schedule :
8:00-2:30. This is an hourly position and is part time.
Pay :
$22•25/hour•negotiable based on experience/education
Pay:
$22.00•$25.00 per hour
