This is a part-time, non-unit professional without benefits not to exceed 18.5 hours per week.

$33.05/HR
STATEMENT OF DUTIES
Bristol Community College invites applications for a Part-Time Staff Associate within Accessibility Services (ADS). This position supports students with disabilities by providing direct assistance with assistive technology, providing note-taking assistance, and ensuring access to instructional materials. Working collaboratively with ADS staff, students and campus partners, the Specialist plays a key role in promoting equitable access to academic resources and fostering student success.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES, FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Assistive Technology Support Assist students with the setup and use of assistive technology, including reading software (e.g., Kurzweil), account creation, and access to electronic texts. Modify and prepare instructional materials to ensure compatibility with assistive technology, including editing text for accessibility. Provide troubleshooting and technical support for student technology used in coursework. Student Support & Access Services Provide support to students in navigating and utilizing approved accommodations, including in-class or virtual assistance as needed. Coordinate logistical support for interpreting services, including creation of Zoom links and setup of required technology. Work with providers to set up interpreting services for students and troubleshoot issues as necessary. Assist students with the use of laptops, microphones, and related equipment to support access services. Testing Accommodations Provide support in the administration of specialized testing accommodations in collaboration with ADS Coordinators, Faculty and the Testing Center. Ensure appropriate assistive technology and materials are available for student accommodation needs during testing. Technology & Resource Coordination Serve as a liaison between Accessibility Services and the Library regarding assistive technology inventory and resources. Monitor equipment inventory Manage assistive technology requests and update related forms and tracking systems. Reach out to students to collect materials that have not been returned Work with Student Accounts and the Library to assess bills for unreturned items Data Tracking & Administrative Support Maintain records and generate reports related to accessible materials, technology usage, and service delivery. Identify trends and areas for improvement to support ongoing development of services and staff training. Notetaking Support Help students with notetaking- which may include setting the student up in online notetaking services or taking notes during the student's class as needed/available Ensure faculty and staff are familiar with notetaking options and answer questions as needed Outreach & Program Support Assist with the development of outreach materials, including bulletin boards, flyers, and web content to promote Accessibility Services. Support departmental initiatives and special projects as assigned.
Requirements:
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
High School Diploma Demonstrated experience working with students or in a customer service/support environment Strong technical aptitude and ability to learn assistive technologies Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills Ability to work effectively with a diverse student population
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree Experience with assistive technology (e.g., Kurzweil or similar software) Familiarity with accessibility practices in higher education Experience supporting individuals with disabilities Experience with data tracking systems or student information systems
