Teacher Assistant SELA The International Private School - 1.0 Hingham, MA Job Details Full-time $18 an hour 14 hours ago Qualifications Student supervision Classroom active supervision Safety regulations High school diploma or GED Student safety monitoring Safety protocol implementation Full Job Description Teacher Assistant (Full-Time & Part-Time) Infants, Toddlers & Preschool (3 months4 years)Position SummaryThe Teacher Assistant supports the Lead Teacher in providing a safe, nurturing, developmentally appropriate, and engaging learning environment for children ages 3 months to 4 years. This role helps implement daily routines, learning activities, supervision, and classroom operations while upholding SELAs values, safety standards, and program expectations.

Key ResponsibilitiesChild Supervision, Safety & CareMaintain active supervision at all times (indoors, outdoors, transitions, meals, rest).Support health, safety, and hygiene routines (diapering/toileting, handwashing, cleaning/sanitizing, safe sleep practices).Follow all center policies and required reporting procedures for injuries, incidents, and concerns.

Assist with arrival/dismissal procedures and ensure children are released only to authorized adults.

Classroom Support & Learning EnvironmentAssist with implementing daily lesson plans, activities, and learning centers as directed by the Lead Teacher.

Help set up, organize, and clean learning materials and classroom areas.

Support childrens social-emotional development using calm, respectful guidance and positive behavior supports.

Help maintain classroom organization, displays, and materials aligned with program standards.

Routines & Developmental SupportSupport feeding routines (bottles, meals, snacks) following individual child needs and family instructions.

Assist with nap/rest routines and ensure children are comfortable and supervised.

Observe childrens development and share relevant notes with the Lead Teacher.

Provide warm, responsive care and build secure relationships with children.

Family Communication & ProfessionalismGreet families warmly and professionally; support daily communication as directed by the Lead Teacher.

Maintain confidentiality regarding children, families, and staff.

Represent the schools mission and values with professionalism and respect.

Teamwork & ComplianceWork collaboratively with classroom team and follow direction from Lead Teacher and administration.

Participate in trainings, meetings, and professional development as required.

Follow all licensing requirements and internal procedures (including ratio support, documentation, and classroom checklists).Complete other duties as assigned to support classroom and school operations.

QualificationsHigh school diploma or equivalent required; ECE coursework or CDA preferred.

Experience working with infants/toddlers/preschool children required.

Ability to follow safety procedures, classroom routines, and guidance strategies consistently.

Strong communication skills and a team-oriented mindset.

Must be able to meet physical demands of early childhood work (lifting children, sitting on floor, standing, moving quickly for supervision).Requirements (Employment)Background check clearance as required by state licensing.

CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain within required timeframe).Up-to-date required health documentation and immunizations per program/licensing rules.
Schedule & StatusFull-Time:
Typically 3540 hours/week (schedule set by campus needs).
Part-Time:
Typically 1530 hours/week (morning and/or afternoon shifts available).
