Job Summary The Paraprofessional plays a key role in supporting student achievement by actively engaging learners and helping maintain a structured, productive classroom environment. This position supports instructional activities under the direction of a classroom teacher and assists with non-instructional responsibilities under the supervision of an Assistant Director. Responsibilities Support classroom instruction and collaborate closely with the classroom teacher Assist with classroom management using an assertive discipline model and effective redirection strategies Uphold and enforce school policies and expectations Provide support during group and independent work periods Reinforce positive learning behaviors (e.g., attentiveness, engagement, organization) Lead small-group instruction in reading, language, math, writing, reasoning, and/or spelling, as assigned Monitor student progress and provide targeted support to those needing additional assistance Assist with grading, recording, and tracking student work as directed by the teacher Help students correct work, answer questions, and engage in reading activities Track incomplete assignments and communicate with the teacher as needed Administer assessments, checkouts, or retests as directed Participate in assigned duties, including morning arrival, lunch/recess, and dismissal Attend Back-to-School Night and other required school events Participate in professional development and ongoing training Perform additional duties as assigned by members of the Leadership Team Requirements High school diploma required Strong verbal and written communication skills Ability to analyze information, solve problems, and draw sound conclusions Ability to work in alignment with school policies and all applicable state and federal regulations Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively in a team-oriented environment Strong instructional support and classroom management skills Successful completion of applicable MTEL exams within one year of employment This position is evaluated annually and is an annual appointment.
