Aug 10, 2026 Job Description As a 1:1 at GLCPS your primary responsibility would be assisting a Middle School student in accessing the curriculum in an inclusion classroom. At GLCPS, you will have the support of the team including Special Education and General Education teachers who plan and deliver curriculum to students in an inclusion setting. You would help your student complete work in class during each block of the day, prompt and redirect your student, and help them to stay focused on tasks, providing accommodations. Experience working with students with Autism Spectrum Disorder is preferred, but a willingness to learn is key! In this role, you would also support this student in other areas of the curriculum including lunch time with peers, elective classes like art and music and physical education. As a 1:1 Paraprofessional at GLCPS you will receive a prep block daily to complete your data collection and catch up on items that you may need for working with your student. You will also meet with your team daily. Other responsibilities would include but are not limited to:
  • Daily home communication with parent
  • Assistance with completion of classwork
  • Working closely with the Special Education and General Education teachers to understand modification and accommodation provided to student
  • Facilitating communication through speech and/or communication device to help student become more independent
  • Assisting student with navigating throughout the building
  • Communicate needs to the team
  • Work daily with co-teachers to provide accommodations and modifications for student
  • Run behavior plan and PBIS initiatives, as needed
  • Collect daily data and help with progress reporting
  • Have fun working with an awesome student who is ready to learn and loves being in the inclusion setting with peers
