ABA Integration Assistant
BURGESS ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
2025-2026 School Year

Hourly Wage Range:
$18.72 - $23.04 Reports to: Special education classroom teacher, and/or other service providers, including the BCBA, for daily consultation and, through those teachers, to the building principal or assistant principal.
Responsibilities:
Provides structured behavioral, adaptive skill, and life skill assistance to assigned students while working in a variety of classroom settings.
Essential Functions:
1.works primarily with students on IEPs including, but not limited to those with the following disabilities:
  • Autism
  • Severe Multiple Disabilities (non-ambulatory/non-verbal/medical)
  • Social Emotional 2.
maintains high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information about students and their records 3.works directly with individual students requiring specialized instruction, including social emotional domains, adaptive skill development and behavioral interventions 4. implements teacher/specialist developed lessons without direct supervision 5.is able to manage challenging students that may engage in aggressive behavior, profanity, spitting, or other forms of inappropriate or maladaptive behaviors. 6. Provides behavioral and systematic interventions including, but not limited to:
  • discrete trial and incidental teaching
  • data collection and graphing
  • documentation and feedback
  • instruction and de-escalation techniques that may require physical interventions and follow-through 7.
maintains contact with classroom teacher(s) and service providers to collect data and monitor progress as developed by specialist or special education teacher 8.facilitates participation of assigned student(s) in general classroom activities and peer interactions 9.participates in annual review and reevaluation Team meetings of assigned students if requested 10.provides information to be included in the preparation of progress reports 11.provides escort and physical assistance to assigned student(s) as necessary throughout the building and school day 12.carries out personal health and safety protocols, including diaper changing and lifting, positioning in equipment, and specialized feeding as necessary, with appropriate training 13.prepares alternative materials as requested by the teacher/specialist 14.compiles reports of daily accomplishments and/or behaviors for regular meetings with special educators/specialists, as well as with the BCBA to review students' progress. These reports may be sent home daily, under the direct supervision of special educator and/or other specialists 15.participates in in-service training programs and/or workshops, as assigned 16. Maintains Safety Care certification; at the discretion of the Special Education Director determined by student need 17. performs other duties, as assigned Ability to:
  • work with children of varying abilities, including children with substantial disabilities
  • communicate effectively with students, teachers, and administration
  • modify student work to match students' level of understanding and development
  • maintain cooperative and productive working relationship when dealing with students and staff
  • solve practical problems with students and staff
  • understand and carry out oral and written directions
  • plan and organize work to meet deadlines
  • provide information and assistance to parents, the general public and other staff members in a helpful, courteous and timely manner
Knowledge of:
  • child development and challenges faced by students with learning or substantial disabilities
  • curriculum expectations of grade level to which he/she is assigned
  • effective use of computer and relevant educational software applications, including assistive technology, with appropriate training
  • interpersonal skills using tact, patience and courtesy
  • telephone/computer techniques and etiquette
Qualifications:
Evidence of ability to perform each essential function satisfactorily. The requirements listed above are representative of the knowledge, skills and/or ability required
Education:
  • post-secondary training and/or Associate's Degree required
  • experience in working within an educational setting preferred
  • five or more years' experience working with children with disabilities preferred
Terms of Employment:
