  • Special Education Paraprofessional
  • 1:1/CNAWest Springfield Public SchoolsWest Springfield Public Schools is seeking a dedicated and compassionate 1:1 Paraprofessional to provide individualized support to a student with unique learning and/or behavioral needs.
The successful candidate will work closely with the classroom teacher and related service providers to reinforce instruction, encourage independence, and foster a safe, supportive learning environment.
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Provide direct support to an assigned student to reinforce learning of materials and skills introduced by the teacher.
  • Assist the teacher in implementing individualized strategies tailored to the students specific needs, interests, and abilities.
  • Establish and maintain a positive, supportive, and respectful relationship with the student to promote social, emotional, and academic growth. Support the student during transitions, emergency drills, assemblies, play periods, field trips, and other school-related activities.
  • Assist with lunch, snack, toileting, and clean-up routines as needed
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the classroom teacher, building administration, or Superintendent of Schools
  • Staff will be trained in student-specific feeding and positioning/transferring.
Qualifications:
  • Must have CNA License
  • Associates Degree or 48 college credits attained or Workkeys, Associate degree preferred
  • Citizenship, residency or work visa required
  • Demonstrated aptitude for the work to be performed
  • Familiarity with some data collection is preferred
  • Ability to work with young, active children in the classroom, on the playground, and in the gym during gross motor movement.
Salary:
$25.00/hour
