Educational Assistant - Special Education Wilmington Public Schools - 3.8 Wilmington, MA Job Details Full-time $20 - $25 an hour 18 hours ago Qualifications Data collection Full Job Description We are seeking an Education Assistant at the Boutwell Early Childhood Center to support students with and without disabilities in achieving their educational goals. This position is expected to work with students in integrated kindergarten and/or preschool classrooms as well as the special education programs, as needed. The Educational Assistant will be responsible for the following:
Primary Responsibilities:
Support students within and outside of the general education classroom and/or sub separate classroom according to their IEP (Individual Educational Program) Work with the classroom teacher and/or special education teacher to assist in the classroom as the teacher deems appropriate. This may include, but not limited to, small group instruction, giving frequent breaks, making modifications for students and working with diverse learning styles. Work with moderate and/or severe special needs populations, such as learning disabilities, emotional disturbance, autism, or intellectual disabilities. Implement current IEP and data collection under supervision of Special Education teacher or liaison Implement the DCAP (District Curriculum Accommodation Plan). Assist classroom teachers by collecting data on students goals and objectives. May be required to supervise students during various times of the work day (ei: morning, afternoon, lunch, and recess) May assist students with mobility, transitions, self-care (toileting, feeding, dressing), and implementing IEP related care plans, requiring lifting, bending, and working with adaptive equipment, under teacher supervision, to support learning and daily functioning for students with disabilities. Specific responsibilities based on age/grade level and needs of students Work collaboratively with special education, classroom teacher, support staff, and grade level colleagues. Participate in meetings, Safety Care training, and professional development opportunities as assigned by the building or district administration.
