JOB DESCRIPTION
Position:
LOA Education Support Professional (ESP) (Paraprofessional)
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
The essential functions or duties listed below are intended only as an illustration of the various types of work that may be performed. Positive attitude Team Player Supports students' academic growth by teaching individuals and small groups. Takes initiative to plan activities that meet the development level of students. Assists in data collection from established plans. Engages in professional development to improve ability to meet all students' needs. Promotes student independence, self-confidence, and development of social, organizational, and other critical skills. Provides positive reinforcement and constructive feedback to students. Effectively communicates and collaborates with staff. Maintains confidentiality. Demonstrates flexibility adjusting to changes in daily routines, needs, and administrative directives, policies and procedures. Works with students to resolve conflicts with one another as they arise. May have responsibilities for Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) include those related to hygiene, feeding, and toileting as well as lifting/transferring students from wheelchairs. Develops a positive, workable rapport with students. Instructs individuals and small groups as directed by the classroom teacher. Assists in the tracking of student growth. Assists in preparation of the classroom for instructional activities as directed by the teacher. Monitors students' safety and security. Performs other responsibilities related to the role of a General Education/Special Education Support Professional (Paraprofessional)
Qualifications:
Two years of higher education is preferred. Demonstrated ability to work with students, under the direction of the teacher, nurse and/or support staff. Ability to support and reinforce the teacher's expectations for students.
Supervision/Evaluation:
Supervised by the B uilding Administration, Special Education Supervisors, and Special Education Liaisons. Evaluated annually by the Building Administrators or Special Education Supervisor.
Physical and Environmental Demands:
The physical and environmental demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Training will be provided as needed. Able to move with a student from one school to another. Physical agility and strength, with Safety Care Training (SCT) or the ability to complete SCT training.

Salary Range:
$26.64-$34.44 based on education and experience
