Job Description

Clonlara School is seeking a compassionate, collaborative, and student-centered Learning Support Teacher for the 2026-2027 school year. This role focuses on supporting students with diverse learning needs within our multi-age, learner-centered campus environment. The Learning Support Teacher partners closely with classroom teachers, families, educational advisors, and school leadership to ensure students receive appropriate accommodations, behavioral support, and individualized strategies that help them succeed academically, socially, and emotionally. This role emphasizes consultation, collaboration, and student advocacy within inclusive classroom settings. Responsibilities Responsibilities include, but are not limited to
  • Collaborating with classroom teachers to support students with diverse learning profiles and needs.
  • Developing and maintaining student accommodation plans and 504 plans.
  • Supporting the implementation of accommodations, modifications, and individualized learning strategies within the classroom environment.
  • Assisting teachers in adapting curriculum materials and instructional approaches for diverse learners.
  • Helping create inclusive, supportive, and flexible learning environments that align with Clonlara's learner-centered philosophy.
  • Providing guidance and support related to student behavior plans, executive functioning, social-emotional learning, and self-regulation strategies.
  • Meeting regularly with teachers, parents, and school leadership to discuss student progress, challenges, and support strategies.
  • Monitoring student growth and helping identify interventions and supports as needed.
  • Maintaining accurate, organized, and confidential student support documentation.
  • Supporting teachers in using instructional strategies and tools that increase student engagement and accessibility.
  • Building positive, caring relationships with students and families.
  • Participating enthusiastically in school community activities and initiatives that support enrollment growth and community engagement.
  • Supporting the implementation of Clonlara's Full Circle Learning Model in partnership with classroom teachers and staff.
  • Contributing to a collaborative, reflective, and student-focused school culture. This is an overview of the expectations for this position. A more detailed description of this role will be provided during the interview process. Background and Skills We are looking for candidates who
  • Valid Michigan teaching certification preferred; special education certification or experience supporting students with learning differences strongly preferred.
  • 2+ years experience working with neurodiverse learners and students with a variety of academic, social-emotional, and behavioral needs.
  • Understanding of accommodations, 504 plans, executive functioning support, and inclusive educational practices.
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills.
  • Ability to work flexibly and creatively in a personalized, learner-centered environment.
  • Experience in multi-age, project-based, inquiry-based, or alternative educational settings is a plus.
  • Commitment to relationship-based education and whole-child development.
  • Value teamwork and consensus building.
  • Understand student autonomy, empowerment, and engagement.
  • Have strong cross-cultural understanding and the ability to communicate with diverse populations.
  • Are collaborative, non-judgmental in their approach to individual circumstances, preferences, and choices.
  • Demonstrates openness to coaching, readily accepts direction, and collaborates effectively with supervisors and colleagues.
  • Proven ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
