Special Education Paraprofessional - Chesaning Union Schools

Qualifications:

Meet the Highly Qualified definition as set forth by No Child Left Behind Legislation. Methods for achieving this status include: Associate Degree from an Accredited Institution, 60 college credits from an accredited institution, or pass as assessment of basic skills: ACT WorkKeys, ETS Praxis, or Michigan Test for Teacher Certification. Have a high school diploma or GED. Experience and desire to work with challenging students. Experience working with individual students as well as with small groups of students on a variety of activities. Basic understanding of appropriate behavior management strategies to use with children.

Job Duties:

Provide behavioral assistance to students needing support through the Positive Behavior Support Classroom. Assist students with day-to-day learning and behavioral goals. Provide personal care needs for students that are in need through the IEP process. Assist students on and off the bus if required. Maintain appropriate records. Work collaboratively with teachers. Willingness to receive specialized training. Willingness to perform duties related to students with behavior needs alongside teachers/staff. All other duties as assigned by building Principal, Supervisor of Special Education, or Superintendent.

Salary:

In accordance with the Master Agreement.

Terms of Employment:

School year only position. 6 hours per day during all scheduled student days

Pay:

$13.73 - $14.25 per hour
